John and Barbara have always loved the area as it is very unspoiled and offers the best of both worlds, mountains and sea without being overcrowded or over hyped. They have owned a holiday cottage in Goginan since 1989, and bought Nany Yr Arian Farm in December 2005 to move permanently to the area.
Accommodation
Red Kite Cottage is a recently renovated 12th century Cistercian grange farm barn, situated at the head of the Melindwr Valley. The barn has kept many of its original features, beautiful beams, high ceilings, and thick stone walls, with views to die for. The cottage has recently finished undergoing a major refurbishment, which has just been awarded 4 stars by the Welsh Tourist Board.
The Cottage offers a spacious living room with panoramic views down the valley, and a log burner to take away any chill in the evenings (Logs are included, and delivered free of charge!). We also provide a welcome pack which includes tea, coffee, milk, and preserves.
There are three bedrooms, a king size master bedroom with en-suite, and two further twin bedded rooms. There is also a family bathroom, kitchen with dining for six people. For those warm summer nights there are barbeque facilities, and patio furniture, to take in the breathtaking views of the valley.
Surrounding the valley is the Cambrian Mountains renowned for their stunning natural beauty and includes Nant Yr Moch Reservoir, Plynlimon and an area rich in mining heritage. We are situated only 10-15 mins by car to the busy seaside town of Aberystwyth, the beautiful beach and Sand Dunes at Ynyslas. John and Barbara have extensive knowledge of the area, which they will be happy to share with you.
Savour your time here photographing the Red Kites, walking the dog, painting the views, or simply relaxing in comfortable surroundings and you can stay as long as you want! For those that like adventure, there are many Walking and Mountain Biking routes in the area and other local attractions include the famous Nant Yr Arian Red Kite Centre and Devils Bridge.
Our prime location in the heart of Mid Wales offers a fantastic opportunity to explore this beautiful un spoilt area of the world at your leisure.
The cottage is available for weekend, week, or long term breaks. Our change over day is normally a Friday, but we can be flexible to meet your requirements depending on any other bookings we have. Tariffs are dependent on numbers, and duration of stay, but we are very reasonable and competitive.
